Embark on a magical snowshoe adventure tailored to your wishes. Our customised snowshoe trips offer an unforgettable journey through the pristine winter landscapes of Kvaløya, Norway’s fifth-largest island.

General information

Enjoy the tranquillity of snow-covered trees and panoramic views. The route is adapted to your preferences and experience level. Whether you seek the excitement of higher altitudes or the tranquillity of sheltered valleys, the experience can be tailored to you.

Admire the snowy landscape

Enjoy views of majestic mountains, fjords, crystal-clear water and snow-covered landscapes while we share local history and knowledge.

There will be several stops along the way, giving you time to take photos and enjoy the scenery. We also take photos during the trip and are happy to share them with you afterwards.

Whether you are an experienced hiker or trying snowshoeing for the first time, our guides will ensure a safe and enjoyable trip. Winter clothing and all necessary equipment are included.

About the trip

We choose the route according to the weather conditions, your experience and your preferences.

Lunch featuring local specialities is included, along with coffee, tea and a traditional dessert from the area.

The experience begins with an introduction to the equipment and techniques. The trip can be customised to suit you and your group, including pick-up time and location, as well as any special requests.

Minimum age: No minimum age. If your child requires a child seat, please contact the operator at least one week before departure.

About Explore the Arctic

We are a small adventure company with 20 years of experience in organising outdoor activities on Kvaløya and in the Tromsø area.


Over the years, we have developed and improved our tours, with an increasing focus on quality and personal service. Our experience and knowledge of the area help ensure memorable Arctic experiences.



During our tours, guests learn about the area, its history and wildlife. We provide high-quality clothing and all the necessary equipment. We also make an effort to visit good locations for photography, and any photos we take during the tour are included.



Since the beginning, we have focused on giving something back to our small community by involving local people and small businesses in what we do.



Being in nature is our passion, while photographing wildlife and spectacular natural phenomena is what drives us. Without this beautiful natural environment, we would not be able to do what we do. During our tours, we therefore share the importance of respecting and protecting our surroundings.
