Rakettnatt in Tromsø

Rakettnatt

Rakettnatt is a highlight of the Arctic summer.

About us

With an attractive line-up, tempting food stalls and exciting cultural events, the festival attracts both locals and visitors from all over the world to Tromsø.

Rakettnatt, Northern Norway’s largest music and arts festival, takes place every year during the last weekend of August – right in the heart of Tromsø. It is the perfect end to summer in the north.

There are many reasons why Rakettnatt has become one of Northern Norway’s most popular festivals in recent years. And yes, it is almost always sold out when Tromsø is transformed into one big celebration during this late-summer weekend.

Rakettnatt is known for its unique atmosphere. Much of this is thanks to an impressive and varied music programme, with artists and bands from different genres performing across several stages. The line-up includes everything from major pop artists to exciting newcomers.

Colourful cultural and artistic experiences also add to the festival atmosphere. In other words, festivalgoers get more than just music. Rakettnatt collaborates with both established and emerging artists to create unique visual and sensory experiences.

Festivalgoers can also enjoy a wide variety of food and drink stalls.

Environment on the agenda
Rakettnatt has environmental issues high on the agenda, and the festival organisers work continuously to reduce the festival’s climate footprint. They collaborate with Tromsø Food Bank to reduce food waste, and work to cut plastic and non-degradable packaging.

There is also a strong focus on reusing and recycling materials. Festivalgoers are encouraged to recycle waste, and a good system is in place for collecting and handling waste during the festival. The organisers collaborate with Remiks Miljøpark on this work.

In addition, all equipment is rented from local operators in the Tromsø region, and festivalgoers can enjoy local food.

These are just a few examples. Find out more about the festival’s environmental measures here.

You can always sleep later!
Although the festival arena is full of temptations and the music continues late into the evening, do not forget to explore the many bars and nightlife options in Tromsø city centre. You can sleep later!

Visitors are advised to plan their trip to Tromsø well, and to book accommodation well in advance. In Tromsø, you can choose from everything from hotels to camping sites and guesthouses.

Our best tip is to add a couple of extra days before or after the festival, so you can experience everything Tromsø and the surrounding region have to offer.

Welcome to a music festival in the north!
