Join a reindeer sledding experience near Tromsø. Meet and feed reindeer, learn about Sámi culture and enjoy a traditional Sámi lunch of bido

General information

This tour is operated by Tromsø Lapland.

The camp is located around 50 minutes from Tromsø city centre, in a valley surrounded by snow-covered mountains with views towards the Lyngen Alps.

Upon arrival, Sámi guides will take you on an approximately 20-minute reindeer sled ride. Afterwards, you can enter the enclosure, meet and feed a herd of more than 120 reindeer and take photos in the beautiful surroundings.

A traditional Sámi lunch of bidos will be served. Bidos is a warming reindeer stew served with bread and margarine. Vegan and gluten-free alternatives are available.

After lunch, a Sámi guide will share stories about Sámi culture, traditions and everyday life with reindeer. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions.

Please note:

• The reindeer sled ride is dependent on suitable snow conditions, and its duration may be adjusted. If the sled ride cannot take place, you will receive a partial refund. The remainder of the tour will continue as planned.
• The maximum weight for the sled ride is 120 kg per person.
