Reindeer Sledding and Sámi Culture with Lunch

This tour is operated by Tromsø Lapland.

The camp is located approximately 50 minutes from Tromsø city centre, in a beautiful valley surrounded by mountains with views of the Lyngen Alps.

Upon arrival, Sámi guides will take you on an approximately 20-minute reindeer sled ride through the winter landscape, with the sleds travelling one behind another. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to meet the reindeer up close, feed them and take photos in the beautiful surroundings.

After meeting the reindeer, a traditional Sámi lunch of bidos, a warming reindeer stew with potatoes and carrots, will be served. A vegan alternative is also available, consisting of a Norwegian-style, gluten-free vegetable soup with potatoes, swede, carrots, onions, leeks, spices and stock.

After lunch, a Sámi guide will share stories about Sámi culture, traditions and life with reindeer herding. Through the guide's stories, you will gain an insight into Sámi culture and everyday life. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions.

Meeting time and place: Please meet at 9:45 AM (09:45) in front of the main entrance to Radisson Blu Hotel, Sjøgata 7, Tromsø. Look for a guide wearing a blue luhkka, a traditional Sámi cloak.

Departure time: 10:00 AM (10:00)

Duration: Approximately 4.5 hours. Return to Radisson Blu Hotel by 2:30 PM (14:30).

Important information:

• The reindeer sled ride depends on suitable snow conditions, and its duration may be adjusted. If weather conditions prevent the sled ride from taking place, you will receive a partial refund. The rest of the tour will go ahead as planned.

• The maximum permitted weight is 120 kg per person. Each sled can accommodate a maximum of two adults.

• You can also make your own way to the camp. The address is Sjursnesvegen 144, 9027 Ramfjordbotn. If you choose this option, please arrive no later than 11:00 AM (11:00) to ensure you can participate in the full programme.

• Winter driving conditions in Norway can be challenging. If you are not experienced in driving on snowy and icy roads, we recommend using the included bus transport.

• This tour follows the same programme as the 1:00 PM (13:00) departure. If this departure is fully booked, you can check availability for the afternoon tour.
