Join a reindeer sledding experience near Tromsø. Meet and feed reindeer, learn about Sámi culture, enjoy bidos and look for the Northern Lights.
General information
This tour is operated by Tromsø Lapland.
The camp is located around 50 minutes from Tromsø city centre, in a valley surrounded by mountains and Arctic scenery.
Upon arrival, Sámi guides will take you on an approximately 20-minute reindeer sled ride through the winter landscape. On clear evenings, you may see the stars and perhaps even the Northern Lights along the way.
After the sled ride, you will meet and feed the reindeer inside the enclosure.
A traditional Sámi dinner of bidos will then be served. Bidos is a warming reindeer stew served with bread and margarine. A vegan and gluten-free alternative is also available.
After the meal, you will gather inside the lavvu, a traditional Sámi tent. Here, a Sámi guide will share stories about Sámi culture, traditions and everyday life with reindeer. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions.
Please note:
• The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and sightings cannot be guaranteed.
• The reindeer sled ride is dependent on suitable snow conditions, and its duration may be adjusted. If the sled ride cannot take place, you will receive a partial refund. The remainder of the tour will continue as planned.
• The maximum weight for the sled ride is 120 kg per person.
