Look up at the sky in search of the Northern Lights as you feed our reindeer herd, before our experienced Sámi guides lead you through the Arctic landscape on a sled ride.

General information

This tour is operated by Tromsø Lapland.

Less than one hour from Tromsø city centre, our camp offers a glimpse of life in the Arctic. Away from the city lights, and with temperatures that can reach –30°C, you will head out on a 20-minute sled ride through the darkness, with only the stars above you – and hopefully the Northern Lights dancing overhead.

After the sled ride, you will meet our reindeer herd inside the enclosure, feed the reindeer and enjoy a memorable Arctic evening at camp.

You will then be served a traditional taste of bidos, with vegan and gluten-free options available. Afterwards, our Sámi guides will share stories from their culture and way of life. Come with questions – they are happy to share and answer.

Please note:

• The sled ride is subject to good snow conditions, and we may sometimes need to adjust the duration of this activity. If the weather does not allow us to run the sled ride at all, you will receive a partial refund. The rest of the tour will take place as normal.

About Tromsø Lapland Reindeer Camp

We Sámi are the indigenous people of Scandinavia and have been living and working with reindeers for centuries.

We have countless generations of knowledge and experience of the fascinating and charming creature that has helped us survive life in this cold and extreme nature of the north. The reindeer is the true hero of the Arctic.

We would like to invite you to visit our Sámi camp and join us for a genuine and family-friendly reindeer sledding safari with an amazing view of the famous Lyngen Alp mountains.

Hopefully you will learn to cherish and respect these curious and furry creatures just like we do!

Our expert guides will also tell you about the secrets of surviving life in the Arctic and show you traditional artifacts and treasures from our culture.
