Snowmobile Safari in the Lyngen Alps

Explore the Lyngen Alps on a guided snowmobile safari from XLyngen Resort in Nord-Lenangen.

If you choose transport from Tromsø, the journey takes you through the Arctic landscape and includes a ferry crossing over Ullsfjorden. After the ferry crossing, you will continue to XLyngen Resort in the northern part of the Lyngen Alps.

On arrival, you will meet your guides and be provided with the necessary winter clothing. Before setting off, you will receive instructions on how to drive and control the snowmobile.

Two people share each snowmobile and normally take turns driving and being a passenger. The guided safari follows designated trails through the snow-covered landscape, reaching elevations of up to approximately 300 metres above sea level. Along the way, you will stop at viewpoints with views of the surrounding fjords and mountains.

Your guide will also share information about the local area, its history and the fishing traditions that have shaped the community. You may spot wildlife such as eagles, foxes or moose along the way, although wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed.

After the snowmobile safari, you will return to XLyngen Resort, where a warm meal with fresh bread, a hot drink and dessert is served in the restaurant.

Minimum age to participate: 7 years

Please bring:

• Warm clothing, preferably woollen base layers
• Gloves or mittens
• Valid driving licence if you wish to drive the snowmobile

Level of difficulty: Moderate

Duration: Approximately 2.5–3 hours at XLyngen, or approximately 7.5 hours including transport from Tromsø.

Important information:

• You must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driving licence to drive a snowmobile
• Children aged 7–12 must be able to hold on to the snowmobile without assistance
• Two people share each snowmobile and normally take turns driving and being a passenger
• All participants must follow the guide’s instructions during the tour
• If you select transport from Tromsø, you will return at approximately 4:15 PM (16:15)
• Pickup from Svensby ferry quay at 10:20 AM (10:20) can be arranged by contacting the supplier directly

Departure time and meeting point:

With transport from Tromsø: Departure at 8:45 AM (08:45) from Prostneset Bus Terminal, Samuel Arnesens gate 5, 9008 Tromsø. Look for Arctic Route bus 917 towards Lyngen.

Self-meeting at XLyngen: Meet at 10:45 AM (10:45) at XLyngen Resort, Lenangsveien 2344, 9068 Nord-Lenangen.
