General information

This tour is operated by Destination Tromsø.

Escape Tromsø and travel into the quiet wilderness of Camp Tamok in the Tamok Valley, a 90-minute bus ride from the city. This experience is designed around the Northern Lights, but they can never be guaranteed, as they depend on weather and solar activity. Regardless of the conditions, you will spend a memorable evening outdoors in a true Arctic wilderness setting, surrounded by snow, silence and a cosy bonfire.

Upon arrival, your experienced guide will greet you and provide thermal suits, boots and gloves to ensure you stay warm and comfortable in the Arctic winter.

Immerse yourself in the magic of a Norwegian winter with hands-on, authentic activities designed for all ages. Try tandem skiing to test your balance, explore the snowy landscape on snowshoes and join guided activities led by our expert guides. Listen to fascinating stories about Arctic life, skiing and the stunning surroundings, and meet our friendly reindeer.

You will also learn essential winter survival skills, such as building and maintaining a fire in cold conditions. Warm up by the fire and grill your own sausage while enjoying a hot drink.

With minimal light pollution, Camp Tamok offers a great setting to experience the Northern Lights. If they appear, our photography guide will capture professional portraits, with digital copies provided afterwards, and/or help you take your own photos. After a magical evening outdoors at Camp Tamok, you return to Tromsø by bus.
