Urban experiences meets raw Arctic nature
Aurora Husky Visit
Experience the Northern Lights and make friends with our 200 Alaskan huskies.
General information
This tour is operated by Tromsø Villmarkssenter.
We invite you to our Aurora Camp, where our professional guides will host you for an unforgettable evening. Above our centre, located 30 minutes from Tromsø and away from the city lights, the night sky is dark and well suited for Northern Lights watching.
While you wait for the lights to appear, your guide will share insights into the natural phenomenon known as the Aurora Borealis. You can also cuddle with our 200 huskies and their puppies and learn about dog sled racing, breeding and animal welfare during a guided tour of our kennel. Our thermal suits and boots will help keep you warm throughout the Arctic winter night.
Dinner is served around an open fire in our cosy gamme. Try bacalao, a traditional Norwegian fish dish with Portuguese roots made from locally sourced ingredients (a vegetarian option is available upon request), followed by a piece of our signature chocolate cake. While you eat, your guide will keep a close eye on the sky and inform you of any Northern Lights activity.
After dinner, there is time to watch for the Northern Lights, take photographs and say goodbye to the dogs before we head back to Tromsø.

About Tromsø Villmarkssenter
30 years ago, the renowned dog sled racer Tove Sørensen opened her home to guests from all over the world.
Since then, she and her family have dedicated their lives to educating visitors about Alaskan huskies, dog sledding and Arctic nature through sustainable outdoor activities.
We strive to be inclusive hosts in every regard – everybody who shares our passion is welcome. Vegetarian and vegan alternatives are available for all our programmes, and most of our activities are suitable for the whole family. Let your little ones play with our little ones in the puppy training programme, or take them on a sledding adventure safely chauffeured by one of our experienced guides. Infants aged 0–2 years are always free of charge, and we offer discounts for children.
Our facilities are also wheelchair accessible, and our dog sledding ride programme in particular is well suited to people with disabilities. However, our walkways can be a little difficult to manoeuvre, especially when covered in snow. Therefore, we recommend bringing a helper with you when you visit. Our standard shuttle service requires guests to board the bus independently, but we can arrange specialised transportation upon request. Please contact us if you are planning a visit; we would be delighted to tailor a smooth and barrier-free experience for you.
On our programmes, you will not only experience everything we love about our home, but also discover your own connection to the Arctic. Whether you let us teach you how to drive a sled or allow a four-legged hiking companion to show you their favourite trails, Tromsø Villmarkssenter is your home in the wilderness.
