Urban experiences meet raw Arctic nature
Our text and image guidelines
Here are our guidelines for text and images on our website. If you have any new products or product updates, please see the information on this page regarding how to submit new products and updates.
Text guidelines
General requirements
- We need both Norwegian and English text.
- Write unique text for our website. Do not copy and paste text from your own website, as this is not good for SEO. The texts and websites will be competing with each other.
- Provide an honest and accurate description of what guests can expect. Do not promise anything you cannot deliver.
- All text must be of good quality and free from grammatical errors. Products with poor-quality text will not be published.
Product titles and introductions
- The product title must be short and concise.
- Product titles must not exceed 35 characters, including spaces.
- Information about the number of guests, what is included in the tour, etc. should be included in the product description rather than the title.
- The introduction must not exceed 160 characters, including spaces.
Writing and formatting
- Avoid writing entire words or sentences in capital letters, and do not overuse exclamation marks, as this can appear as though you are shouting.
- Do not use abbreviations; write words out in full. For example, write “Included” rather than “incl.” and “metres” rather than “m”.
- Date format examples:
- Norwegian: 10. oktober–15. desember
- English: 10 October–15 December
Accessibility information
- We recommend including practical information about the vehicle, the experience and the places you visit so that guests with mobility, visual or hearing impairments can assess whether they can participate in the experience.
Requirements for English text
- We prefer text to be written in British English.
- Several AI tools can be used for quality assurance and proofreading, including Copilot, ChatGPT and Gemini. Please note that any facts generated by an AI system must always be verified.
- Write times using both the 12-hour and 24-hour formats, for example: 6 PM (18:00).
- If the time is 8:30 in the morning, write: 8:30 AM (08:30).
Image guidelines
Image specifications
- The recommended image dimensions for activities and other bookable products are 1200 × 800 pixels.
- If the product is neither an activity nor another bookable product, the recommended dimensions for the main image are 1440 × 560 pixels.
- The maximum file size is 300 kB per image.
- We recommend including a maximum of three to five images per product.
- Many free tools are available for cropping and compressing images if you do not have Photoshop or similar software. Examples include Figma and TinyPNG. We can also assist with cropping and compression.
Image rights, credits and privacy
- Please inform us if photographer credits are required.
- Be aware of the GDPR and privacy requirements when using images featuring identifiable people. As the supplier or product owner, you are responsible for ensuring that the images comply with current regulations.
- Your company is responsible for ensuring that all image rights and permissions have been cleared for use.
- Visit Tromsø-Region AS cannot be held responsible for images submitted by partners that do not comply with applicable legislation or usage rights.
Responsible marketing
- Make sure that the images comply with the Norwegian Marketing Control Act. Pay particular attention to the restrictions on advertising alcoholic beverages.
- We always aim to market the destination and its activities responsibly. Images must therefore not promote potentially risky situations. Examples include people sitting on the edge of a cliff during a hike, ski touring without a helmet or taking part in boat trips without a life jacket or flotation suit.
Use and editing of images
- According to the online booking agreement, you automatically grant Visit Tromsø-Region permission to use your company’s images in the general marketing of Tromsø as a destination.
- We may crop images to suitable formats. When we use your images, we will credit the company and the photographer. This gives your company additional visibility when its images are used.
If you have your own Citybreak licence
- Images are transferred from your iTicket account.
- Although it is technically possible to upload larger images to the system, we strongly recommend compressing images to a maximum of 300 kB per image. This is the generally recommended maximum size for images used on websites.
- Large images increase loading times, which can negatively affect SEO. It is therefore in both your interest and ours to reduce the image size.
- If you wish to use different images or image dimensions on your website and ours, you can send us cropped and compressed images, and we will add them. We can also assist with cropping and compression.
Editing rights
- Visit Tromsø-Region is the owner and web editor of visittromso.no and reserves the right to edit text and images for products published through our channels.
