Explore the Arctic fjords on a whale watching tour from Tromsø and look for whales in their natural habitat.
General information
This tour is operated by Helgøy Skyssbåt.
Join a whale safari from Tromsø to the Arctic fjords around Skjervøy, one of Northern Norway’s most important winter feeding grounds for orcas and humpback whales.
Every winter, whales gather in the nutrient-rich waters of Northern Norway, providing excellent opportunities to see these magnificent animals in their natural habitat. Along the way, the boat travels through fjords surrounded by snow-covered mountains and Arctic coastal landscapes.
The fast, modern vessels allow the route to be adapted based on where whales have most recently been observed. This makes it possible to spend more time in the areas where sightings are most likely, while providing a comfortable journey through the Arctic landscape.
On board, you will find heated lounges with large panoramic windows and spacious outdoor viewing areas where you can enjoy the scenery and take photographs. The tour operates below the vessels’ maximum passenger capacity, providing everyone with more space on board.
Although whales are the highlight of the tour, you may also spot white-tailed eagles and other Arctic wildlife along the way. The experienced crew continuously monitors whale activity and will do their best to locate the areas where whales have most recently been observed.
The tour is operated in accordance with current guidelines for responsible whale watching, with respect for both wildlife and the natural environment.
Whales live freely in the wild, so sightings cannot be guaranteed. Weather and sea conditions in the Arctic can vary, and the route may be changed according to the conditions on the day.
