Dog Sledding in Tromsø

This tour is operated by Tromsø Aurora Husky.

Travel from Tromsø to the husky camp on Kvaløya for a small-group dog sledding experience in the Arctic winter landscape.

Before heading out, you will meet the dogs and receive instructions from your guide. Each sled can be pulled by up to 16 huskies, allowing families and groups to sit together. An experienced guide accompanies each sled, and one guest can have the opportunity to steer while the guide remains on board.

After the dog sledding, spend some time at the camp and enjoy a warm meal and hot drinks. Vegetarian and vegan alternatives are available when requested in advance. Warm clothing and footwear are provided to help keep you comfortable during the experience.

The tours are kept small, with a maximum of 15 guests per departure.

Minimum age: No minimum age. If travelling with infants or small children, please bring the necessary equipment for their transport.

Please bring: Warm layers, preferably woollen base layers and socks, warm gloves and a hat. Please bring the necessary child safety equipment if travelling with an infant or small child.

Departure time and meeting point: 10:00 AM (10:00) or 1:00 PM (13:00) from Radisson Blu Hotel, Sjøgata 7, 9259 Tromsø.

About Tromsø Aurora Husky

Tromsø Aurora Husky puts adventure and quality first.

Only a handful of guests are allowed to visit our kennel. To focus on quality and create unique experiences for those who visit us, we serve local food, and all tents are handmade and hand-sewn by our Sami people. The dogsleds are handmade in Norway and Sweden, and we serve salted and dried meat that has won awards for Norway's best salted ham. The clothes we lend to guests are made of either leather or cotton.

We believe our dogs receive the best treatment by having fewer guests, allowing them to thrive in harmony with nature and the people who visit us. Animal welfare is the most important factor at our kennel.

Our season is based around three winter months in Tromsø. During the summer, the dogs live on Norway's third-largest glacier, experiencing different adventures and destinations full of joy. When not travelling, they stay on a peaceful mountain farm where they can run freely together as a herd. This is important for their muscles, joints, and maintaining their pack mentality.

We only use Norwegian raw materials, and once again, only the best quality is good enough. Nothing is more important than ensuring the dogs are well cared for and live a varied everyday life, with the right balance between leisure and work — something they truly enjoy.

I am one of the very few people who travel around the world with my dogs to experience adventures together. I love nature, animals, and adventure — that is my passion, and I want to share our everyday life and passion with our guests.

Everyone is welcome to join our tours. We use up to 16 dogs per sled, allowing families to sit together, with the option for one person to steer the sled themselves. This is very unique. Each team is accompanied by a guide on the sled, ensuring the dogs are guided safely through the landscape while guests can still experience the power of a large team.

If you have mobility challenges, please let us know, and we will adapt the experience for everyone.

A hot meal is provided on every trip. Please inform us if you require a vegetarian or vegan option. Hot drinks such as coffee, cocoa, and tea are also available.

We serve salted and dried meat made from some of Norway's best raw materials. We have carefully selected warm clothing and shoes for our guests, all made from quality materials.

There is no age limit for our trips, but please bring the necessary equipment for transporting infants and children.

Transport to and from Tromsø city centre is included.
