Guided Snowmobile Tour in the Lyngen Alps

Join us for an unforgettable snowmobile adventure through the stunning landscapes of the Lyngen Alps. This guided experience offers a perfect blend of excitement, natural beauty, and Arctic wilderness exploration. On this afternoon tour, depending on the month you visit, you may experience sunset, twilight, or a starry sky — and sometimes we even get to see the northern lights from the snowmobile.

Upon arrival at Aurora Wonderland Basecamp, you'll receive your snowmobiling gear — suit, boots, and helmet. Our experienced, English-speaking guide will instruct you on how to operate the snowmobile, followed by a brief practice session before the tour begins.

We drive in a line, safari-style, following approved and well-established trails. Safety is our top priority, and we always stay within the designated areas. The terrain is varied and set in a mountainous region, offering fun and exciting driving challenges along the way. The tour focuses on sightseeing, the thrill of snowmobiling, and enjoying the unique surroundings of mountains, forests, and fjords.

The ride lasts approximately 60 to 90 minutes and takes you through diverse and breathtaking landscapes. Each snowmobile is shared between two guests, with the opportunity to switch drivers at designated points during the tour.

After the tour, warm up at the basecamp with a freshly prepared fish soup (see allergy list below).

Allergies and Dietary Restrictions

We can accommodate the following upon request (please ensure this information is included in your booking — we must know in advance):

• Vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and lactose-free options — but not in combination (e.g., gluten-free and vegan together)
• Gluten-free (please note: we cannot guarantee zero cross-contamination due to a shared kitchen environment)

We are unable to accommodate:

• Severe nut allergies

Pick-up & Travel Details

• Meeting Time: 11:30AM (departure at 11:45AM)
• Meeting Place: Prostneset Bus, Boat & Hurtigruten Terminal (Samuel Arnesens gate 5, 9008 Tromsø)

Please go inside the bus terminal (1st floor), proceed to the bus platform, and look for a red bus labelled “Arctic Route.” Guides will be there to assist you. The bus is booked under your booking name.

• The bus will take you to Breivikeidet, where you will board the ferry.
• Our team will meet you on the other side and transport you directly to the basecamp.
• Return to Tromsø: Approximately 6:45PM

Requirements to Operate a Snowmobile

• You must be in good physical condition.
• You must hold a valid driver’s licence.
• You must present your driver’s licence to the guide. This may be a physical licence or an official digital version (such as a national ID app).
• You will not be permitted to drive if you cannot provide valid proof of a driver’s licence.
• Snowmobiles are driven in pairs, with one driver and one passenger per snowmobile (even if you book as a single participant). There will be plenty of opportunities to switch places during the adventure.
• All participants must follow the rules outlined in the safety briefing. Participants who endanger themselves or others in any way will be excluded from the tour without the possibility of a refund.
• The snowmobiles are insured with a liability of up to EUR 980. This means the driver may be required to pay up to EUR 980 on the spot to cover any damages caused by the driver. Following the rules set by the tour guides will greatly reduce the risk of damage.
• Pick-up and drop-off times in Tromsø may be subject to change. Please allow extra time between activities and/or onward travel plans.
• We reserve the right to cancel the trip at any time due to weather conditions, safety concerns, or if the minimum number of participants is not met.
• No refunds will be issued if you are not present at the pick-up location at the agreed time.

Please bring: Gloves and a balaclava (highly recommended), warm and functional clothing such as fleece, thermal underwear and wool socks, a water bottle, car driver’s licence (if you will be driving)
