Urban experiences meet raw Arctic nature
Northern Lights Photography Tour
1790 NOK
per person
The northern lights appear on their own terms. On this tour, we follow the weather, cloud cover and aurora activity throughout the evening, driving to where the chances are best.
General information
This tour is operated by Tromsø Activities.
We leave Tromsø by minibus as darkness falls. Throughout the evening, we closely monitor real-time forecasts, cloud cover and solar activity. If necessary, we keep moving – deeper into the fjords, up to higher plateaus or across to neighbouring islands – until we find clear skies.
We were also among the first operators to introduce live northern lights cameras, allowing us to monitor weather and aurora conditions remotely.
Photography: A DSLR or mirrorless camera on a tripod will give the best results. Your guide will be happy to assist with camera settings for the most common models. Modern smartphones can also capture excellent northern lights photos.
Included: Experienced Norwegian-speaking guide with meteorological expertise, transport in a heated minibus with comfortable seating, hot chocolate served during the tour, northern lights photography with guidance and assistance, pick-up and drop-off in Tromsø city centre

About Tromsø Activities
We’re a company that welcomes different personalities and opinions. When running a backpackers’ hostel, it is natural that people from every culture pass through.
We try to maintain an international outlook while staying true to our Norwegian character. This means we are fluent in “backpacker”. Our philosophy is that travel should be for everyone. We do not care where you come from, only that you are open-minded and willing to take part in our community. The basic qualities we value in our travellers are openness and acceptance.
In the winter months, we do everything we can to find the northern lights, while in the summer months we make the most of the midnight sun.
Our hostel has 30 beds and is based on the simple need for a roof over your head. We provide useful travel information, as well as basic shower and kitchen facilities. If you are travelling and interested in meeting new people, there is no better alternative than spending a few nights at Tromsø Activities Hostel.
