Arctic Whale Tours

About us

Arctic Whale Tours is a locally owned whale watching company offering guided whale safaris from Tromsø, Stø and Andenes in Northern Norway. With experienced crews and a strong commitment to responsible wildlife tourism, the company gives guests the opportunity to discover whales and other marine wildlife in their natural environment.

About Arctic Whale Tours

Established in its current form in 2014, Arctic Whale Tours began operating in Tromsø in 2017 and expanded to Andenes in 2024. The company combines maritime experience, local knowledge and a passion for marine wildlife to create memorable experiences along the Northern Norwegian coast.

Whale Watching in Tromsø

From November to January, Arctic Whale Tours offers winter whale watching cruises from Tromsø aboard MS Alba, a Norwegian-built catamaran with a heated indoor lounge, panoramic windows and outdoor viewing decks.

The full-day safari takes guests through the Arctic fjords in search of orcas and humpback whales, which follow the migrating herring during winter. Along the way, experienced guides share insights into the whales, their behaviour and the Arctic marine ecosystem.

Summer Whale Watching in Northern Norway

During summer, Arctic Whale Tours also offers whale watching experiences from Stø and Andenes in Vesterålen. These coastal areas provide opportunities to discover different species of whales and other marine wildlife, including sperm whales in the waters off Andenes.

Responsible Whale Watching

Respect for marine wildlife is central to Arctic Whale Tours. The company follows responsible whale-watching guidelines, using careful approaches, appropriate distances and reduced vessel speeds to minimise disturbance to the animals.

The guides also share knowledge about whale behaviour and marine conservation, helping guests gain a deeper understanding of the wildlife and ecosystems they encounter.

Whale Pass

Whales are wild animals, and sightings can never be guaranteed. Arctic Whale Tours offers a Whale Pass on eligible tours, giving guests the opportunity to join another whale safari if no qualifying whale or dolphin sightings occur, subject to the operator's terms and availability.
