About us

OffTrack Experience is a small, host-run adventure company in the Tromsø region, offering carefully crafted Arctic journeys for small private groups.

We deliberately work with very small groups to create a more personal and exclusive way to experience Northern Norway. Instead of large groups and fast-paced tourism, our guests travel at a slower rhythm — spending time in nature, with the dogs, and with the people who live here.

Dogsledding is at the heart of what we do. Guests learn to drive their own team of sled dogs and travel through quiet winter landscapes where nature sets the pace. Rather than short rides, our goal is to share the real experience of travelling with sled dogs in the Arctic.

What truly sets OffTrack Experience apart is our overnight dogsledding journeys and longer wilderness expeditions, taking guests deeper into the Arctic landscape than typical day tours. Evenings are spent in the calm of the wilderness, often under northern skies, sharing a warm meal after a day on the trail.

For the more adventurous travellers, we also organise extended wilderness expeditions designed for small groups who want to explore further and experience the Arctic in a slower and more immersive way.

In addition to our winter journeys, we offer exclusive coastal expeditions combining remote wilderness lodges with private sailboat adventures along the northern coastline.

Food is an important part of the experience, and something we take great pride in. Meals are based on local ingredients and what we harvest ourselves — including moose we hunt locally, reindeer, lamb and beef from nearby farms, potatoes from our own garden, and berries we pick ourselves, such as blueberries, lingonberries and cloudberries, often served as homemade jams.

All experiences are personally hosted by us, sharing everyday Arctic life with our guests.

OffTrack Experience is for travellers who value nature, authenticity, privacy and local hospitality — and who prefer small, meaningful experiences over mass tourism.

Accessibility

Our base is located in a rural area in the Troms region. We offer daily pick-up from Bardufoss, and private transfers from Tromsø or Narvik can be arranged on request.

Due to the nature of dogsledding and wilderness travel, guests should have a moderate level of mobility. Please contact us to discuss individual needs and possibilities.

Families and children

Dogsledding journeys are generally suitable for children from around 8–10 years old.

However, private trips can be adapted, and infants may join upon request when suitable arrangements can be made.

Overnight journeys and longer expeditions are best suited for older children, teenagers and adults.

Environmental certification and sustainability

OffTrack Experience has been certified by Hanen – Norwegian Ecotourism since 2021. This certification reflects our commitment to small-scale, sustainable, nature-based tourism, respect for wildlife and landscapes, and strong connections to local culture and food traditions.

We believe that small groups, local knowledge and responsible use of natural resources are key to preserving the Arctic environment for future generations.

Food service

Food is an important part of the experience, and we take pride in serving meals based on local ingredients and regional traditions.

Vegetarian and vegan options can also be provided on request.
